Native American's Speak About Death

Native American's Speak About Death

DEATH ALWAYS COMES
OUT OF SEASON

I was born upon the prairie

where the wind blew free

and there was nothing to

break the light of the sun.

I was born where there was no enclosures

and where everything drew a free breath.

I want to die there,

and not within walls.

TEN BEARS

Do not grieve.

Misfortunes will happen to the wisest

and best of men.

Death will come,

always out of season.

It is the command of the

Great Sprint,

and all nations must obey.

What is past and what

cannot be prevent should not

be grieved.....

Misfortunes

do not flourish particlarly

in our lifes----

they grow everywhere.
